Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was an exceptional child. However, for an Irish girl with talented parents and extended family these traits came as a naturally. Maureen entered this caring haven on August 17, 1920 located in Ranelagh (a suburb of Dublin), Ireland. Marguerita FitzSimons was a gifted contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman in Dublin who also controlled a portion of the Irish soccer team Shamrock Rovers. Maureen was the second of six FitzSimons children. Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen enjoyed rough sports as young and became very adept at it. Additionally, she had a gift for acting. As evidenced by getting almost every Feis award for drama and the stage that her country had to offer. In the age of fourteen, she was admitted to the Abbey Theater, where her dream was to pursue the art of opera and classical theatre.
